The Future of Neruda: As many of you know, I will be retiring from the restaurant business after Valentine's Day 2012. After that time a new operator will be taking over the Neruda space with a new and enticing concept restaurant for the Edwardsville area. I want to thank all my fantastic customers for their continued patronage over the years. I have made many, many friends over the 14 plus years that Neruda has been open, and it is my hope that we will still be able to spend some time together, here or there over the upcoming years. I also want to thank my great staff for their dedication and support. You guys did it! - Madt M. January 2012

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 - Wines of Eguren Ugarte Family with Josu Galdos: Here's what co-host Joe Billhartz of Koerner Distributors says about this upcoming dinner: "We will be featuring 5 wines from the Eguren Ugarte Family. The family's vine-growing and wine-making history dates back to 1870 when Modesto Ugarte started to grow his own vines. In 1989 his grandson, Victorino Eguren Ugarte, built the new winery in Laguardia-Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of his vineyards. The fourth generation of the family and their team are now responsible for the historic "Heredad Ugarte" winery, combining technology with tradition to make excellent wine." This will be an excellent opportunity to join the fun and fellowship of a Neruda wine dinner and to enjoy some excellent wine values from Spain. Our host for the evening is Josu Galdos, the Ugarte's United States Representative. The cost of this dinner is $60 per person or $110 per couple. To see the complete wine selections click here (as PDF). For reservations, please call Neruda at 618-659-9866.
